A quick note on the subject as we have had a few reports lately that Shrewsoft VPN client package for Mac OS X (El Capitan release) was missing in main homebrew repository. That caused troubles for folks trying to use our recipe on that subject from last year. When you try to install from the homebrew repository, you would get following message:
$ brew install shrewsoft-vpn-client Error: No available formula with the name “shrewsoft-vpn-client” ==> Searching for similarly named formulae… Error: No similarly named formulae found. ==> Searching taps… Error: No formulae found in taps.
It looks like the package was excluded because of “tuntap” package failing to build. Tuntap is a module that shrewsoft-vpn-client functionality depends on. If you need a copy of the pre-built shresoft-vpn-client package, please try to download using following link:
Also, you may want to check this archive here for other modules removed from homebrew:
Update: one of visitors of our website submitted following solution in the comments:
You can get the shrewsoft-vpn-client using homebrew by tapping homebrew/boneyard and then trying to install:
brew tap homebrew/boneyard
brew install shrewsoft-vpn-client
Thank you very much, Mr. Watson.
